The much-anticipated second Hobbit film, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, hits cinemas in the UK this Friday, and as per the first film, the stunning scenery of New Zealand will provide the backdrop for the hit movie.

Tourism New Zealand has revealed four new film locations for director Peter Jackson’s latest blockbuster, including the Pelorus River in the Marlborough region of the South Island. Located half way between Blenheim and Nelson it is the setting for ‘Forest River’ in The Hobbit.
