What’s on in the run up to Christmas…

Take in the magical Christmas lights in the nearby town of Mousehole. Mousehole’s Christmas lights, the most magical Christmas lights in Cornwall, will be switched on at 7.30pm on the 15^th December during a truly festive evening in the harbour village, possibly the most beautiful harbour in Cornwall. The coastal lights are a stunning spectacle each year, with magical floating displays of lights across the water and through the streets.

Highly recommended, the Newlyn School of Art will be running an inspiring and fun Christmas card workshop. Led by prolific artists in Cornwall, inspiring printmakers will have the chance to create their very own Christmas cards by hand in a one day event exploring a range of printmaking techniques and letter press. Working only a few hundred yards from where the Forbes School of Painting was run by Stanhope Forbes, the ‘Father’ of the Newlyn School of Painters, between 1899 and 1938, event students won’t help but be inspired by the school’s rich historical-arts setting. After a day of exclusive creative learning, guests will leave with their very own small edition of cards to proudly give with love to friends and family this year.

The one day Christmas card event takes place on the 18^th and 25^th November between 10am and 4pm at Newlyn Art School www.newlynartschool.co.uk  and costs £49 per person (plus £3 per person towards paints).

The Eden Project’s ice-rink is back with a magical glacial theme this year. Get your skates on and enjoy a magical Winter wonderland. Eden’s Winter festival will include lantern parades, live music and storytelling, Christmas crafts workshops, shopping and an opportunity to meet Sami reindeers and their herders. For those visiting before Christmas the historic Queen Anne manor house of Trereife and its spectacular grounds will be hosting its Christmas Fair from the 23^rd-25^th November. A magical festival occasion and a great opportunity for some last minute Christmas shopping with lovingly sourced pieces and produce from Cornish designers, chefs and foodies up for grabs.
