Joie de Vivre Hotels

Commune Hotels and Resorts, parent company of Joie de Vivre Hotels and a lead corporate sponsor of The Bay Lights installation, has announced that it will be offering one-of-a-kind viewing packages for us staying at Joie de Vivre hotels in San Francisco over the next year.  The “Illuminated Cruise” packages offer an opportunity to enjoy semi-private Bay tours with spectacular up close views of The Bay Lights and the San Francisco skyline.

Comprising 25,000 LED energy-efficient lights installed on vertical suspension cables on the western span of the Bay Bridge, The Bay Lights measures 1.8 miles long and more than 500 feet high.  This monumental public art will remain on the bridge for two years through March 2015, and organizers anticipate that it will impact an audience of over 50 million people in the Bay Area alone.

The exclusive “Illuminated Cruise” package was developed in partnership with , San Francisco’s first on-demand water taxi service.  Unlike other larger Bay tours, Tideline’s boats are smaller and highly maneuverable, offering a more intimate and comfortable experience for up to six guests.  The one-hour tours will take guests right up to The Bay Bridge for an up-close view of the exhibit as well as spectacular from-the-water views of favorite San Francisco landmarks such as The Ferry Building, AT&T Park and Coit Tower.  Tideline’s boats are equipped with cozy blankets, sound systems, an enclosed area, and are skippered by a knowledgeable local crew.  Evening tours will be offered daily, departing from Pier 1 ½ in San Francisco, just a few blocks from Hotel Vitale, the unofficial viewing headquarters for the Bay Lights Grand Lighting ceremony.

The “Illuminated Cruise” package is available to us staying at participating Joie de Vivre hotels, including Galleria Park Hotel; Hotel Carlton; Hotel Del Sol; Hotel Kabuki; Hotel Rex; Hotel Tomo; Hotel Vitale; Laurel Inn; Phoenix Hotel; and Waterfront Hotel in Oakland.  Package rates start at $145 and include overnight accommodations and two tickets to a one-hour Bay Lights cruise, click on specials to book.

Meritage Resort and Spa

… a combination of the words “merit” and “heritage” (and rhyming with the latter) is a distinct American wine blended from two or more Bordeaux grape varieties. It must be the winery’s best wine of its type.

Just like the wine that inspired its name, the Meritage Resort and Spa is the perfect blend—winetasting, dining, spa, dramatic event spaces, romance, and indulgence— all in one perfect wine country location.

As a AAA Four-Diamond resort, the opulent amenities & attentive staff will make that transition easy to enjoy the beauty of Napa Valley. Your room will be a safe haven from the outside world, offering luxury, convenience and restfulness whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure. Your guest room or suite features such ammenities as oversize terraces, granite counters, plasma TVs, tile floors, internet access, refrigerator and more. Also offering private wings with guest rooms and suites so that your friends, family members or associates can enjoy additional privacy during your stay.

The Meritage Resort offers the perfect blend of facilities and service to make your Napa Valley visit relaxing, and if you choose, productive. Winetasting, fine dining and spa treatments are a must, but the Resort also offers an outdoor entertainment area with a covered terrace, heated pool, fire pit, bocce ball court, and seasonal poolside food and bar service. If you can bear to tear yourself away from the pool, take a stroll along the hillside on the vineyard path (weather permitting) from our Lady of the Grapes landing through the vineyards to the famous Grape Crusher statue and back.

For the ultimate in romance and mystery, explore the sensational heart of the Meritage Resort— the vast Estate Wine Cave. Built into the hillside beneath the resort’s proprietary vineyard, this 22,000-square-foot space houses the world’s only underground four-star spa, a tasting room, and a barrel-ceilinged entertainment room capable of welcoming up to 200 guests. A must see for a wedding venue. It is the only facility of its kind in the wine country.
