Blue Moon New York City

The award-winning Blue Moon New York City (featured above at 8.00) boutique hotel has been lovingly restored by Manhattan artist-as-architect, Randy Settenbrino, who has poured his heart and soul into its transformation. Located in Manhattan’s trendy Lower East Side neighborhood, bordered by Greenwich Village, East Village, SoHo, Chinatown and the Financial District. The Blue Moon Hotel is in a perfect spot whether we are traveling for business or visiting the popular tourist attractions in New York City. Everywhere you want to be is a quick 10 minute walk or feel like a New Yorker & hail a cab.

The historic 19th Century tenement building, once inhabited by immigrants and factory workers, was partially sealed off for 70 years, and is an art preservation and design project. In fact, stepping through the doors of the Blue Moon Hotel is much like walking into a historic Manhattan art museum. Original architecture, wood moldings, doors, light fixtures and marble tiles are just a few of the features that have been reintegrated into the hotel’s design. Historic memorabilia found throughout the building during reconstruction has been preserved and used as a part of the décor while incorporating modern elegance, amenities and services.

Beautifully appointed guest room accommodations allow individuals and families the space they need to stretch out and relax. Comfortable pillow-top mattresses are lavishly covered with 300TC cotton sheets, dressed with custom fabrics and pillows, and set against decorative wrought iron beds. Exquisite antiques stylishly decorate each room, reminiscent of a bygone era; including a desk and chair for those guests who wish to stay in touch with their office and home.

Enjoy your top-tier room at 20% off & renown hand-dipped chocolates from the Sweet Life, plus a bottle of wine. Daily gym included.

The Quintessential: Eddie Cantor (penthouse) with 15’ cathedral ceiling and is flooded with natural light which enters via huge oversized windows, and a 13’ wide terrace; or enjoy the Molly Picon Suite, with a 26’ wide terrace. These glorious honeymoon nests feature 6’ hydromassages, and views that will make you swoon.

The Luxury: The Al Jolson (penthouse) has a 15’ high cathedral ceiling, and is flooded with natural light which enters via huge oversized windows. Al Jolson and Mickey Katz both have hydro-massage and 13’ wide terraces. The Marx Brothers has a massive (275 Sq Ft.) terrace where you can step confidently outside on a roof deck-type balcony. At sunset all the Luxury rooms have an arresting view of the Williamsburg Bridge.

Ends 6/30/2013. Minimum 2 night stay. Must be booked directly via the front desk; chocolates must be ordered 24 hours in advance of stay. Please call the front desk to book (212) 533-9080.

The Benjamin Hotel

“To sleep, perchance to dream- ay, there’s the rub.” Hamlet William Shakespeare

We are a third of the way through the year and chances are most people are already behind in using their vacation days.  CNN Money reported that Americans gave up 226 million unused vacation days that equated to $34.3 billion worth of time.

The Benjamin, a boutique hotel in New York City, is encouraging us to do more of what we don’t seem to get enough of: vacation & sleep (nearly two out of three Americans claim to not be getting enough shuteye).  Knowing that clocking out for a last-minute week off is probably not feasible,

The Benjamin has created Sunday Savings, a perfect excuse for an extended weekend.  Sunday Savings, featuring 50% off Sunday night stays with a two-night minimum, include:

  • Accommodations in a spacious guestroom
  • The National Sessions, live Sunday night jazz featuring NYC musicians from 6 pm to 10 pm in Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian’s grand café located in the hotel
  • Complimentary consultation with the in-house Sleep Concierge, the first and only in the industry, upon request for sleep tips
  • A choice of pillows from The Benjamin’s hallmark 12-choice Pillow Menu
  • Help coming up with an excuse for why you need to take off on Monday (upon request for those who did not take off in advance)

The Benjamin is known for its innovative Sleep Program and amenities, and in addition to the Sleep Menu, Sleep Concierge and 12-choice pillow menu, the hotel sets the stage for a perfect night’s sleep with blackout drapes and The Benjamin Bed, a Serta® mattress created exclusively for the hotel (dressed in 500-thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, a down duvet, luxury Anichini bedding).

For reservations, visit or call 1-888-4-BENJAMIN (1-888-423-6526) and mention booking code TPISUN. Offer is valid through June 30, 2013 so do book soon.

The Benjamin has gone to extraordinary lengths to back up the guarantee of a good night’s rest in New York, “the city that never sleeps.” The hotel has added a Sleep Concierge to the staff, who will make sure that we get everything we need to sleep peacefully.  “We offer our guests a selection of 12 different types of pillows from which to choose: down, upper body, buckwheat, satin, hypo-allergenic, water-filled, Swedish memory, magnetic therapy, cloud (new), a five-foot body cushion, sound, maternity and a special anti-snore pillow,” says Sleep Concierge Anya Orlanska.

Kids and parents can order up any number of pillows from the hotel’s 12-choice pillow menu (if a pillow fight emerges, don’t blame the Sleep Concierge!). The five-foot body cushion, while larger than most kids, tends to be a favorite amongst the smaller set.
