The Plaza is pleased to unveil the signature Tower Suite for young knights in training. With the introduction of this new and distinct Plaza experience, Eloise will have new friends at The Plaza – including a Family Ambassador, who will be dedicated to curating custom experiences for families staying at the hotel.
The Plaza henceforth bequeaths thine noblest sons “Knights of The Plaza.” Young boys who have demonstrated bravery and prowess on the battlefield are invited to spend the night in The Plaza’s one of a kind Tower Suite, accepting reservations as of Friday, June 22, 2012. The suite features a round bed within a unique circle-shaped bedroom overlooking 5th Avenue. The 23-foot exposed brick cathedral ceiling exemplifies medieval architecture, giving the bedroom the authentic feeling of spending the night in a real life siege tower. The living room features The Plaza’s very own coat of arms, as well as medieval art that bring the time period to life.
The life of a young knight is not an easy one – bound to defend his lord and liege and hold himself to the highest standards of combat, knowledge in writing and leadership. Families who want to treat their young royals to a night of medieval make-believe, history and fun, look no further than The Plaza’s Tower Suite. Young guests staying in the suite will be given The Plaza’s royal treatment, including hotel-wide recognition that his lordship or her ladyship is present. Their authority will be validated by a pin worn to indicate that the hotel is now under the medieval hero’s protection. In addition, children will receive an eight inch metallic painted chocolate knight upon arrival, medieval-themed DVDs and books, and a closet full of knight dress-up outfits and toys from FAO Schwarz to complete the experience.
To remain under the guardianship of the brave knight, guests also have the option to book an adjoining Edwardian 5th Avenue suite and Deluxe King Room, converting the room to a three-bedroom suite, for a vacation the whole family will find memorable.

Eloise has always made The Plaza the New York hotel of choice for young girls, and now boys have signature experiences of their own with the launch of this new package. In addition, the hotel’s Family Ambassador will assist with all reservations. The Family Ambassador can also assist guests with experiences around the city, from private shopping tours at FAO Schwarz and custom guides of the city’s best playgrounds, to access to museum exhibits and activities that will bring out the carefree child in everyone.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome this new family component to The Plaza’s existing first-class offerings. Our Eloise program has been a smashing success, and the addition of the “Knights of The Plaza” program will reaffirm our position as the top urban resort in New York City, especially for families” says Cynthia Scherer, Director of Sales and Marketing of The Plaza.
As is only fitting for New York’s quintessential “city child,” Eloise’s suite is located on the 18th floor and is comprised of two rooms – one for erstwhile young Eloises and one for their parents – and Johnson’s design captures all the brio of New York’s Naughtiest. The Suite is resplendently rendered in an Eloise-approved palette of pink and black, and a signature Plaza chandelier fitted with pink bulbs casts a rosy glow throughout. Wall panels are candy striped with pink and white and outlined with gold leaf molding providing a striking contrast to the black and white zebra-print carpet which muffles the sound when Eloise slomps her skates to “make a really loud and terrible racket.”
When guests are tired, tired, tired they can sink into a King-size bed made up with custom-designed bedding – a bedspread sprigged with scenes drawn by “Eloise” illustrator, Hilary Knight, depicting our hapless heroine scampering around The Plaza, a charming print that makes an appearance on the bow-tied curtains, too. Accent pillows are sheathed in shams patterned with custom “Betseyville Rose” and “Betsey Rosebud” prints. The padded pink headboard sparkles with “trinkles” (as does a matching nearby ottoman), and is surmounted by the crowning touch: Eloise’s name scrawled in neon lights and affixed to the wall above, which is absolutely the way it should be, for Lord’s sake.
Two comfy chairs, similarly upholstered in Johnson’s signature rosebud prints, make the perfect perch for bedtime storytelling, and the shades of the bedside lamps are also abloom with this motif. Original Hilary Knight prints adorn the walls, and the Suite is equipped with a disposable Eloise camera so that guests may snap photos of their stay, then tuck them into the “memory board,” a glass-topped mirror just right for storing images of guests both past and present. Betsey Johnson will kick this tradition off herself by taking the very first photo.
The Eloise Suite has got absolutely ALL the essentials: a wall-mounted flat screen TV and DVD player because as per Eloise, “Ooooooooooooooooooo I absolutely love TV,” Eloise DVDs and books, a tea set and Eloise and Weenie dolls to share it with, Eloise robes and towels complete with appliqués of Weenie and Skipperdee.
Eloise and her exploits at The Plaza have captured the imagination of children for more than 50 years. Once again, The Plaza offers its guests - adults and children alike - the opportunity to live like Eloise, if only for the night.
- Luxurious overnight accommodations in a Guest Room or Suite
- $100 Gift Card to the new Eloise Shop at The Plaza
- A copy of Eloise by Kay Thompson
- Super Duper Sundae from In-Room Dining
- Eloise post cards and pen with complimentary postage
The only thing missing may just be Nanny.
